School Consultations and Interventions

Often times, children are doing just fine at home but are struggling in the school environment. Maybe you wish your child’s teacher and school administrators understood his or her diagnosis. Maybe you’re struggling to effectively communicate the strategies with which you’ve been provided. It’s no fun feeling as though you’re stuck in the middle!

Our therapists can do phone or in-person consultations with your school’s staff. We can discuss any diagnoses given, causes and maintaining factors of any problematic behaviors, and strategies to help your child succeed and reach his or her potential. We can do school observations to gather pertinent information for understanding your child. With permission from both you and the school, we can even go to the school to help your child with strategies in school.

Here are some things that we can do by directly working with your school:

  • Explaining diagnoses and their impacts on the learning environment
  • Educating school staff about possible causes and what maintains problematic behaviors
  • Conducting school observations
  • Intervening in the school setting
