Brittany Klipstein is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in the state of New Jersey, specializing in the treatment of children, adolescents, adults and families. Brittany utilizes evidence-based treatment modalities in her clinical work and places emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Structural Family Therapy, Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy.
Brittany earned her B.A. in psychology from Gettysburg College. During her time at Gettysburg, she completed her Honors Research thesis on early indicators of childhood anxiety and graduated with departmental honors. Following graduation, she worked as a counselor at a residential rehabilitation program for substance use disorders. It was this experience that motivated her to further her education in social work.
Brittany earned her master of social work (MSW) from the University of Pennsylvania. While at Penn, she completed her clinical practicum in both inpatient (Fairmount Behavioral Health) and community mental health settings (Penn-Hall Mercer Community Health) providing individual, group, and family therapy as well as case management and discharge planning services. Within these highly clinical settings, she earned a breadth of experience in the conceptualization and treatment of mood disorders, psychosis, chronic and severe mental illness, disordered eating, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Prior to joining the Center for Anxiety and Behavioral Management (CABM), Brittany has held employment positions across a multitude of settings and has served many different client populations. She has worked in community mental health settings at both Rutgers University Behavioral Health in Newark and Youth Opportunities Upheld (YOU, Inc.) in Worcester, Massachusetts. While working at YOU, Inc. Brittany earned specialized training in Early Childhood Positive Behavior Support (EC-PBS) and the Teaching Pyramid through The Center for Social Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL) and provided consultation and intervention strategies to preschool and early education classrooms and programs throughout central Massachusetts. Through these positions she also completing training in the Nurtured Heart Approach and gained clinical experience working with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Sensory Processing Disorders, Developmental Disorders, Attachment Disorders, and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
In addition to inpatient and community mental health settings, Brittany also has extensive experience working in therapeutic school programs at Rutgers Day School in Piscataway and Effective School Solutions in Basking Ridge. The school-based experience has allowed her to develop strong skills in crisis intervention and management, social/emotional interventions and diagnostics, as well as individual, family, and group psychotherapy. While at Effective School Solutions, Brittany also facilitated monthly parent support groups and district-wide psychoeducation training on a variety of mental health topics.
Brittany strongly believes in establishing and maintaining a clinical repertoire that is aligned with the most recent mental health trends and literature. She has completed training in providing clinical care to the LGBTQIA+ population and those who are struggling with issues associated with gender identity and gender dysphoria. She recently completed extensive training in Perinatal Mental Health and Mood Disorders through Postpartum Support International and is in the process of earning certification in this treatment area. She is also currently pursuing advanced training in EMDR therapy. Brittany has also completed certification as a Field Work Instructor and provides clinical supervision as a Certified Clinical Supervisor to current social workers in the field.
